Voice AI Startup ElevenLabs Plans to Add Hubs Around the World

Published

on

ElevenLabs, a startup that offers a platform that uses artificial intelligence to generate synthetic voices, reportedly plans to add more hubs around the world and then launch an initial public offering.

The company has its largest office in London, where it is based; has hubs in New York, Warsaw, San Francisco, Japan, India and Bangalore; and is considering adding more in Paris, Singapore, Brazil and Mexico, CNBC reported Thursday (July 3), citing its interview with ElevenLabs CEO Mati Staniszewski.

“We expect to build more hubs in Europe, Asia and South America, and just keep scaling,” Staniszewski said in the report.

ElevenLabs also plans to launch an IPO within the next five years, “if the market is right,” he said, according to the report.

The company was valued at $3.3 billion in a Series C funding round in January, a figure that was three times the size of the $1.1 billion valuation seen in another round a year earlier.

ElevenLabs raised $180 billion in the most recent round, saying it would use the new funding to continue the development of its AI audio technology that is used in content creation, customer support, gaming, education, accessibility and other applications.

The company launched its platform in 2023 and has since refined its voice AI models and added tools that enable real-time, natural speech for AI agents, speech generation, voice design, sound effects and dubbing in 32 languages.

“This funding moves us closer to a world where digital interactions happen by voice — fluid, natural and as effortless as a conversation,” Staniszewski wrote in a January blog post.

Voice AI startups raised $2.1 billion in 2024, up eightfold from 2023, PYMNTS reported in June, citing data from research firm CB Insights.

CB Insights said the growth was driven by advances in voice AI models — such as OpenAI’s Realtime API for speech-to-speech applications — that gave a big boost to applications in various used cases.

Staniszewski told the Financial Times in April that ElevenLabs was looking to attract American investors.

“Recognizing the most venture funding comes from the U.S., we set up as a Delaware corporation — the preferred and familiar structure for U.S. investors,” he said.

In Thursday’s CNBC report, Staniszewski said the firm has not yet decided where it will list its IPO, adding that it will probably do so in the country where most of its users are located at the time.

Fairfield by Marriott entices guests to “Come Back To Calm” after the adventure of travel – Marketing Communication News

New campaign is the first for the hotel brand from BBH Singapore

BBH Singapore has created an ad campaign for Fairfield by Marriott, a part of Marriott Bonvoy’s global portfolio of over 30 hotel brands, that shows how, in a world of sensory overload and travel overstimulation, Fairfield is your calm oasis — a place to rest, recharge, and head back out again.

“Come Back To Calm,” the new campaign platform, builds on Fairfield by Marriott’s “The Beauty of Simplicity” positioning. The campaign presents Fairfield by Marriott as the hotel that gives you just what you need inside, so you can experience more outside.

This is the first work by BBH Singapore for Marriott International Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC) since winning the business following a pitch earlier this year.

The work centres on an online film that celebrates the ‘good chaos’  and sensory overload of the outside world — the noise, colour, spontaneity, and excitement of exploration — and positions Fairfield by Marriott as the counterbalance, a calm, pared-back sanctuary offering serenity. BBH Singapore aimed to create work that stays with the viewers, just as Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio creates experiences that stay with you.

The campaign will launch on Monday August 25th across Spotify, Jiohotstar, Meta, Youtube in India and run for one year.

Khairul Mondzi, Executive Creative Director at BBH Singapore, said: “I remember stepping off a long-haul flight, utterly frazzled, and checking into my room. The door closed behind me and for the first time that day there was silence. No emails, no notifications, no plans. Just breathing. In that pause I felt more alive than I had in days. Then it hit me. Calm isn’t just rest. It’s what gives you the clarity and energy to really be present, to notice the world around you and to fully engage with it. It’s like being in the eye of the storm. That’s the feeling we wanted this campaign to capture.”

Sid Tuli, Managing Director at BBH Singapore, said: “Marriott Bonvoy is home to some of the most iconic hospitality brands in the world — Marriott Hotels, Westin, Sheraton, Courtyard by Marriott, Lé Meridien, along with many others that are fast growing and on their way to becoming household names. Winning the remit to help them tell the brand story creatively across the region is a dream and we’re off to a great start. We can’t wait for you to see what’s next.”

Ex‑OpenAI exec says a $10,000 UBI could offset AI job loss

As generative AI becomes more advanced and scales greater heights, job losses are still imminent amid privacy and security concerns. The technology is increasingly improving its abilities with repetitive and redundant tasks, making it easier for corporations to leverage its capabilities to augment some tasks with the aim of promoting productivity and efficiency.

Earlier this year, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates claimed that AI would replace humans for “most things”. However, he indicated that humans will have control over which tasks to exclusively reserve for themselves. The philanthropic billionaire even joked that no one would like to watch computers play baseball.

Montana Seeks Its First Chief AI Officer

Published

on

The state of Montana is looking to hire its inaugural chief artificial intelligence officer (CAIO) to set a statewide strategy, advance the use of the technology, and establish an AI Community of Practice.

The CAIO role is gaining traction in government at both the state and local levels. From New Jersey to New York to Arkansas and beyond, state officials increasingly see the value of creating an executive-level position to take the lead on AI policymaking and implementation.

Montana’s job posting Friday for a CAIO marks the state’s first time hiring for this position, Janna Williams, the Department of Administration’s communications director, said via email. The CAIO role is to be part of the State Information Technology Services Division within the Department of Administration.

The Montana CAIO — who will report directly to state CIO Kevin Gilbertson — will be charged with several key tasks. The person selected must set and implement a statewide AI strategy; oversee the advancement of ethical AI use; and establish a cross-sector AI Community of Practice for knowledge sharing, involving state agencies, schools, tribal governments, universities and private-sector entities.

The CAIO will play a leadership role in developing secure and compliant AI solutions to improve public services, reduce technical debt and better serve Montana residents.

The new C-suite executive will design and operate a secure sandbox environment for prototyping AI solutions, develop and oversee an AI literacy program, and issue tools to support responsible AI procurement and use among state agencies.

The position will not initially include direct supervisory responsibilities; however, the job listing said that may change with future expansion in the state’s AI work.

As the state’s AI work continues and evolves, the CAIO will be responsible for tracking key performance indicators such as compliance metrics and pilot results.

Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte signed an executive order Aug. 11 directing officials to integrate AI more broadly in workforce development initiatives. For example, the order directs relevant entities to incorporate AI skills development as part of career-readiness instruction and to use AI tools to support job seekers navigating career options.

The state is seeking applicants with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, experience with AI and in leadership roles driving large-scale technology initiatives. Candidates must have an understanding of the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s AI Risk Management Framework, cloud computing platforms and AI policy for the full-time role.

Julia Edinger is a senior staff writer for Government Technology. She has a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Toledo and has since worked in publishing and media. She’s currently located in Ohio.
