CzechTourism India wins ITCTA Award

CzechTourism India has been recognised at the 10th edition of the International Tourism Conclave & Travel Awards (ITCTA) for its significant role in promoting Czechia among Indian travellers. The award highlights the organisation’s contribution to the growth of the tourism sector and its commitment to strengthening cultural and travel connections between India and the Czech Republic.

This year’s ITCTA was held under the theme “Reimagining Tourism: Innovation, Sustainability and Resilience.” The event aimed to inspire new ideas, adapt to global travel challenges, and encourage sustainable practices. It brought together international stakeholders to honour key contributors and explore the future of tourism in a rapidly evolving industry.

Expressing her gratitude, Barbara Andelová, International Marketing Manager – New Markets at CzechTourism, said that the recognition reflects the strong emotional bond Indian travellers share with Czechia. She noted that the country’s heritage, culture, and immersive experiences have been attracting increasing numbers of Indian tourists.

Czechia’s growing appeal lies in its fairy-tale castles, medieval towns, vibrant festivals, scenic landscapes, and historic spa destinations. The country offers a balanced mix of architecture, culture, nature, and wellness, making it a popular choice for families, honeymooners, and experience-driven travellers seeking memorable holidays.

Adding his perspective, GB Srithar, Head of Tourism Services at VFS Global, remarked that the award underscores CzechTourism’s efforts in showcasing the country’s diverse offerings. He highlighted that Czechia provides unique experiences ranging from wellness retreats to cultural escapes, aligning well with the changing travel aspirations of Indian tourists.

With this recognition, CzechTourism India strengthens its position as a bridge between Indian travellers and Czechia’s rich experiences. Supported by global partners like VFS Global, the organisation continues its mission to build deeper engagement, ensuring that more Indians discover the charm and diversity of Czechia in the years ahead.

In a shift from traditional vacation escapes, Indian travellers are increasingly turning to holidays as a source of joy and rejuvenation. According to the latest search trends from Booking.com, 66% of Indians are seeking travel to boost their mood, with 58% opting for short domestic trips, followed by 36% who are choosing nearby international destinations. This rise in quick getaways reflects a growing trend toward wellness-focused travel and local pride, a trend that aligns with India’s evolving tourism landscape.

Local favourites continue to dominate

Domestic tourism in India remains strong, with Bengaluru, Mumbai, and New Delhi topping the list of most-searched destinations. These urban hubs continue to attract visitors due to business travel, family visits, and the increasing popularity of weekend breaks. However, the demand for leisure destinations is also on the rise, with places like Ooty, Rishikesh, and Puducherry seeing a notable increase in searches, with Rishikesh and Puducherry experiencing a 25% year-on-year growth. These destinations are becoming increasingly popular for wellness, nature experiences, and cultural immersion.

Other popular international destinations include Singapore, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur, all of which remain top contenders for short-haul, culturally rich, and visa-friendly travel options.

Intra-regional travel within APAC is on the rise, reflecting the appeal of nearby destinations with cultural and geographical familiarity. Interestingly, London and Paris have emerged as exceptions, making their way onto the lists of both Indian and Hong Kong travellers, demonstrating a growing interest in international cities beyond the region.

On the international front, Dubai takes the top spot as the most-searched destination for Indian travellers, with a 62%** y-o-y increase in searches. Tokyo has emerged among the top 5 most searched international destinations, witnessing a 90%** rise in accommodation search during the first half of the year, driven by its unique blend of seasonal attractions and rich cultural experiences.  Intra-regional travel within Asia-Pacific is also seeing steady momentum with 8 out of the 10 top searched destinations within the region. Destinations like Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Phuket and Bali all rank among the list, highlighting the enduring appeal of short-haul, culturally rich and visa-friendly getaways.

Japan remains top of mind for travellers across APAC, attracting strong interest both internationally and domestically. South Korea and Thailand follow closely, continuing to be among the region’s most sought-after destinations.

Intra-regional travel is on the rise reflecting a balance between local pride and international curiosity. Even as APAC travellers explore regional options, homegrown destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, Sydney and Tokyo hold the top spots in their respective markets.

The data further underscores APAC’s persistent appetite for intra-regional travel. All but one of the top ten most searched destinations per market were located within APAC – the exceptions being London and Paris, which broke into India’s and Hong Kong’s list. For most, proximity, cultural familiarity and convenience continued to shape travel decisions.

Tammy Wade has been appointed Director of Sales & Marketing at both Hyatt Place Indianapolis and Hyatt House Indianapolis. With 30+ years of experience in hospitality sales and business, Tammy brings strong marketing strategies, project management tactics, established relationships and strategic thinking/negotiation [CS1] skills to her new role at Hyatt Place & Hyatt House Indianapolis. Wade joins the team from Hospitality Ventures Management Group where she advanced through multiple sales roles to become the Area Director of Sales Marketing. Prior to that, Wade spent six years as the Senior Sales Manager at Hilton Worldwide. With such vast experience, Wade is perfectly poised to elevate guest experiences at both properties.

Alexandra Cocco has been appointed Director of Sales & Marketing at Hilton New Orleans St. Charles Avenue. With 13+ years of hospitality sales experience in New Orleans, Alexandra is highly skilled and tactical throughout all aspects of maximizing revenue and has well-established herself within the local market.
