China Eastern Airlines has announced the delay of 803 flights, leading to significant disruptions across its domestic network. This massive cancellation, which occurred on August 8th and 9th, 2025, has particularly affected several critical routes linking Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Harbin.
Affected Routes and Destinations
The delays have impacted a wide range of domestic flights. Several key routes have been affected, including:
- Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) to Xi’an Xianyang International Airport (XIY):

- Taiyuan Wusu International Airport (TYN) to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA):
- Flight CES2408, scheduled for 08:40 AM CST, was another cancellation affecting travel between Taiyuan and Shanghai.
- Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) to Harbin Taiping International Airport (HRB):
- Flight CES5209, scheduled for 08:55 AM CST, was impacted, stranding travelers between Shanghai and Harbin.
Additional delays have been recorded on flights between Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) and Xi’an Xianyang International Airport (XIY), Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (SZX) and Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX), and Hefei Xinqiao International Airport (HFE) and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN).
Impact on Passengers
Passengers scheduled to travel on the affected routes are urged to check for updates on their flights through China Eastern Airlines’ official website or mobile app. The airline is expected to provide important information about rebooking options, refunds, and compensation for passengers who are affected by the cancellations.
It is important to note that the scale of the delays and the impact on various routes may lead to further disruptions. Due to the high volume of affected flights, travelers are advised to stay informed and prepare for delays. Some passengers may need to make alternative travel arrangements.
Given the nature of the disruptions, China Eastern Airlines has been working to ensure passengers are provided with real-time flight status updates. Travelers are encouraged to keep a close watch on their flight’s current status, as further changes may occur throughout the day.
For real-time flight status and updates, passengers can visit the China Eastern Airlines official website or use flight tracking tools such as FlightAware, which provides live updates for passengers on the go.
Recommendations for Affected Passengers
- Rebooking Flights:
- Affected travelers should reach out to China Eastern Airlines to explore available rebooking options. This includes checking availability on other flights to the same destination or nearby alternative routes.
- Refund Process:
- Passengers whose flights have been canceled may be eligible for a full refund. Travelers should check the official website or contact the airline’s customer service for specific guidelines on the refund process.
- Compensation:
- Depending on the nature of the cancellation and the inconvenience caused, passengers may be entitled to compensation. China Eastern Airlines typically provides compensation packages, which could include meals, accommodations, and additional services. Passengers should confirm eligibility with the airline.
- Alternative Transportation:
- For passengers with urgent travel needs, exploring train services or bus routes as an alternative to air travel might be a viable option. Given the scale of flight disruptions, other transportation methods may be less impacted.
Real-time Flight Status and Updates
- China Eastern Airlines encourages passengers to stay up-to-date with the latest flight information. The airline has provided a link on their website for passengers to check live flight statuses and get real-time updates on cancellations and delays. Additionally, FlightAware provides live tracking and information on China Eastern Airlines’ fleet, making it easy for passengers to stay informed about their travel status.
Ongoing challenges
The recent flight delays by China Eastern Airlines underscore the ongoing challenges faced by the airline industry, which is still grappling with unpredictable disruptions. China Eastern Airlines has continued to work on providing updates and rebooking solutions for affected travelers. However, passengers are advised to remain vigilant and flexible in their travel plans.
With 803 delayed flights disrupting critical routes, including those from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Harbin, travelers should monitor the situation closely to ensure they are not caught off-guard. It is crucial for all passengers to be proactive, check their flight status regularly, and take the necessary steps for rebooking or refunds.
As the airline works to recover from the disruptions, passengers should plan for possible delays, and consider alternative routes if necessary.

Free E-Visa For Filipinos To Boost Tourism

India is enhancing its bilateral relations with the Philippines by offering free e-visas to Filipino citizens. This initiative follows the Philippines’ decision to grant visa-free entry to Indian nationals starting June 8, 2025, for tourism purposes. This development paves the way for a mutual visa waiver between India and the Philippines. However, India has not yet specified when this policy will take effect.

The mutual visa waiver between the two countries comes as both countries celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations, aiming to strengthen cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including defence, tourism, maritime cooperation, and trade, among others. A joint postage stamp was launched to commemorate the occasion.
The announcements were made during bilateral talks held with the Philippines President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr on his visit to India. An implementation programme for tourism cooperation between the Philippines and India, effective from 2025 to 2028, is one of the 13 bilateral agreements that have been agreed upon.
The free e-visa offered by India to Filipino travellers is non-convertible and non-extendible, ensuring it can only be used for short-term tourism visits. The mutual visa-free entry is also aimed at fostering people-to-people ties, with plans for cultural programmes and educational collaborations in the making.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced that the administration is working on launching more direct flights from Delhi to Manila in 2025. Air India has already announced direct flights to Manila from New Delhi in June 2025, with the flights expected to become operational by October 1, 2025.
The flight will operate five times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with the Airbus A321neo aircraft, and will feature a three-class configuration, which includes Business, Premium Economy, and Economy.

Several Flights Delayed At Delhi Airport As Rain Lashes National Capital, IMD Sounds Red Alert

Delhi and its surrounding areas woke to heavy rainfall on Saturday, offering much-needed relief from the sweltering humidity but leaving large parts of the capital waterlogged. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert, warning of more downpours through the day.
The overnight showers paralysed much of the city, causing traffic chaos and slowing flight operations. Key roads, including Panchkuian Marg, Mathura Road, and Connaught Place, reported significant waterlogging, forcing commuters to wade through knee-deep water in some areas.
While Delhi Airport said in a statement that operations remained “normal,” real-time data told a different story. Flight tracking site Flightradar showed that, as of 8:30 a.m., several flights were delayed that included domestic and international Air India flights. Airport officials said ground teams were working with airlines and other stakeholders to keep services running smoothly despite the challenging conditions.

Clean the Sky – Sustainable Domestic Flights

Koala Airlines is set to launch in late 2026, introducing a new model of domestic air travel focused on sustainability and regional connectivity. Rather than pursuing rapid expansion, the airline will concentrate on underserved routes across Australia, while embedding environmental responsibility into its operations from the outset.
The carrier plans to adopt fuel-efficient aircraft and implement practices aimed at lowering carbon emissions, supporting the aviation sector’s broader push toward decarbonization. Koala Airlines’ strategy reflects a shift away from aggressive market competition, favoring steady growth built on green innovation and thoughtful planning.
By targeting smaller markets and avoiding high-volume, high-emission routes, the airline positions itself as a low-impact alternative for eco-minded travellers. CEO Bill Astling emphasizes long-term resilience and ecological accountability, placing sustainability at the core of Koala Airlines’ vision for Australia’s aviation future.
