Taiwan Sees Strong Tourism Growth from India with Thirty Percent Increase in 2025 Arrivals

TAIPEI, TAIWAN – Taiwan welcomed a surge of Indian tourists in the first few months of 2025 with an impressive growth rate at 30.73% from January to May this year totaling up to about 19,202 compared against last years’ arrival statistics wherein only the total number happened to be locked at around being slightly above that was set (14,688). This increase further illustrates the growing appeal of Taiwan to Indian tourists, and showcases the effectiveness of marketing initiatives by TTA.
Strong Growth in Indian Arrivals
Indian tourists’ numbers were already up significantly in 2024, as they increased by over 20.81% and the overall figure stood at a tally of total visitors to Taiwan from India was 38,158 for that year. It is a part of the growing outbound travel from India and Taiwan has emerged as one of the major leisure destinations for Indian travelers looking for cultural experiences coupled with sightseeing.
TTA is bullish on India’s Outbound potential and actively engaged with the Indian travel trade to develop robust relationships”, informed Paul Shih, Director of TTA Singapore Office. The TTA’s efforts to penetrate the burgeoning Indian outbound market is already paying rich dividends, as Taiwan witnessed a growth in tourist arrivals from India at almost 2.5 times higher than that of overall tourists travelling overseas from India with 8.44% being increase by which has been growing MTOS % YOY basis (January To June-2019).
Expanding Taiwan’s Tourism Offering
Taiwan’s tourism industry has strategically diversified its products to accommodate a full range of Indian tourists. Further to promoting Taiwan’s deep culture, the TTA has also initiated a number of various new promotional campaigns aimed at niche markets such as golf travel, wellness tourism and culinary inspirations.
It has been proved to have successfully introduced Taiwan’s golfing experiences, targeting high-end Indian tourists in search of luxury holidays spanning everything – from playing on beautiful courses and relaxation time all the way through luxurious hotels.
